Cynosure (pronounced si-ne-shur) comes from the Ancient Greek, Kynosoura, which was the name they gave to the North Star. In ancient times, mariners relied on the North Star to guide their navigation. Much like the North Star, coaching acts as a guide to help people find their direction. It inspires them to transform their thinking, to take action, and to shine in their own unique way. That’s why we chose the name Cynosure – to let our clients know that they can count on us to act as their guide on their way to their best lives possible.
What is Coaching? Coaching is a collaborative partnership between a coach and a willing individual, which connects at the deep personal level of beliefs, values and vision. It enables, through a process of discovery, goal setting and specific action. It is for the realization of extraordinary results. It is based on a body of knowledge and a style of relating that focus on the development of human capacity.
Our Mission: To strengthen the resilience of individuals and organizations in order to empower and inspire them to reach for what is truly possible.
Meet Heather Emmerzael
Heather has been a Registered Nurse for over 20 years. She has spent the majority of her time in the Critical Care environment – working at the bedside in a large Edmonton tertiary Hospital in the Emergency Department and General Systems Intensive Care. She has taught leadership courses at MacEwan University and also has worked as a Manager for Critical Care and Cardiac Sciences.
Throughout her career she has noticed the large stressors that nurses and health care providers experience. As a manager she found herself striving to see how she could better support the staff with all of the constant changes that happen in the medical field. This led her to Graduate School where she obtained her Graduate Certificate in Executive Coaching. She also became a Certified Resiliency Coach and facilitator for grief and trauma work.
Heather is also a Reiki master who holds a very holistic view when working with clients. She believes and understands the importance of mind/body/soul health and connection and brings it to the forefront of her work with clients.
While busy with her career Heather also managed to have two beautiful daughters and takes an active role in their activities.
Heather is passionate about helping health care professionals and has a true love for nurses and their profession. She is a coach who helps frustrated, overwhelmed and fatigued nurses beat burnout and achieve a life of balance, without compromising their life or career so that they can feel truly fulfilled on every level.
